the analysis of film

film analysis

I film akin to the same process of psychoanalysis?
a darkened place where you attempt to lay your soul bare.
and how you place things, or edit, and the very tone you use – All is very interesting/revealing.

But films that make it to the market are so often about the same things.

So that films that maybe explore a lone woman in her sixties thinking about rain will be laughed out of existence.

I suppose a difference is in both practices’ dissemination – the intrusion of the market place.
And meanwhile the films that get analyzed on a large scale tend to be the ones in the market place.

Think of all the dreams we have yet to have.

a thought on writing the pitch

film drawing february 13 - the pitch

The square took over
- 13th February 2009
The reference point – no not reference point – the frame
The frame, the thing within which I could put all my ideas and they would be – they are enclosed.
giving limits, a certain order.
And I crave escape from having to limit things.

But that’s exactly what we want in a pitch.
Not a clutter of words and thoughts thrown at us
(dada, bravado, nuisance, solidarity ….)
But a plan, a story, a framework – once upon a time.

A defined moment – the day started out so well, then I read emails.
A host of possibilities in a set moment – I couldn’t open the door.
A moment of climax with vibration – it says yes.

Apologies, these words don’t work out so well, or maybe they do, I like them.
