Dip wins award in Germany

Dip has won a jury award at Osnabruck film festival. It’s the youth jury award for moral courage. It’s great for the film to be read this way – when we were making it and in the edit – I always saw the film as an anti violence film within a thriller genre. There’s this gun that features a lot being bought for revenge and then there’s an ex child soldier from Somalia obsessing with guilt at what he did because of revenge. The two worlds meet on the top of a London night bus. Thank you so much Youth Jury in Osnabruck for catching what this film is about and giving it such an honour.

Owls and Hooters at the BFI

I acted in a feature, The Owls, and at them same time was in Hooters a comedy film about the making of The Owls. Both are showing together at the BFI Lesbian and Gay Film festival on Sunday 3rd April at 19.00. Please come, I’ll be there with other cast and crew talking about the making of both.

A quiet Sunday opening. The rain has just started even. But Lisa Gornick’s Drawing Shop is easing itself into existence. Some people have requested purchasing my drawings and I would love them to live in other places and have lives outside of me. So take a look at my new site. and here’s some film drawings i did about five years ago when i was thinking of making a porn comedy and never got up the nerve. this is how i tend to write films, start with sketches and then build characters and dialogues from them.

I am directing two short dramas – and I imbue them with as much of what I feel a French film is. Maybe I have a fantasy of talking in a French accent. Or it’s the eyes of the actors. The sensuality. The pace. They are set in a hospital and a care home – but still I want this filmic beauty.

Storyboard part one for Dip. A film I directed for Channel 4′s Coming Up series. It will air on 26th August at 11.10 pm. So get ready for some poignant suspense set on a London nightbus. A French take on the British crime drama. (I’ve always wanted to make a French film and they let me – salute to the producers, crew and cast – and of course Channel 4).
